Welcome to the
Flin Flon Community
Health Project Website
The Flin Flon Community
Health Project was launched in 2011 to spread the message of health
and wellness to the community of Flin Flon/Creighton. Through the
project, resources and programming focused on
hand washing
and
lead-based paint – two key public health issues in Canada –
will be available in the community.

The Flin Flon Community Health Project is an initiative that stemmed
from the Flin Flon Soils Study that took place between 2007 and 2010.
One of the main purposes of the Soils Study was to determine the
potential health risks for people living the Flin Flon area as a
result of metals in the environment from industrial operations.
Overall finding were reassuring but some low level risks were
identified, particularly from lead. It is important therefore, for
members of the community to be aware of activities that limit exposure
to lead. For a list of important practises that will help to limit
exposure to lead,
